Last week we awaked with the amazing news that a person stabbed a friend for a virtual sword of a well-known massive game online, Legend of Mir 3. Before this fact without a doubt, that many mass media, in special some printed newspapers and TV channels, will become echo of the same one and they will magnify it with the already well-known words. Video games are violent, are a danger for people and the children and more arguments like that that only are able to sell a false image of the reality, an image that to some still agrees to them and knowing of the deceit that supposes for its hearings.
It happened the same with the lamentable case of the assassins of the Rol of Madrid, Spain, or the Katana's Assesin , to which it was argued that it had taken his ideas from the popular Final Fantasy VII. But nothing else far from the reality, since what we never must forget is that when a fact thus happens the fault it's in the person in whom has made it. More than the supposed received influence of games, films or books, it's the mind of the individual the one that decides to make an act or no. And here already we entered a moral question, personal education and mental balance that is, without a doubt, the main factor to consider in these cases.
A person who hasn't received a suitable education isn't able to correctly perceive the impulses of his personal surroundings and, for that reason, to interpret badly what sees, reads or hears. It's very easy to throw the fault of a crime to a leisure product and to try to cover the eyes to the fact, perhaps, that everything has been caused by a lack of attention of the family, a negligence of those people who knew the criminal at issue and which they didn't make anything to help him to retake the course of his life. Of course that this formula isn't applicable in all the cases, but before to consume resources in attacking videogames, which we remember move more money already than the cinema and music industry, it would be necessary to dedicate them to look for systems that assure a correct people's formation.
In other order of things, in this last case of violence related to a digital game occurs the particularitity that has originated everything by a transaction of a virtual product in exchange for real money. This is the first case of a dispute of these characteristics but, as the things are evolving, I'm very afraid that it will not be the last news caused by confrontations by virtual goods.
