Mechanized vehicle combat
Lost Eden also introduces mechs, or mechanized vehicles, that you can use in player-versus-player combat. When you jump into one of these, you will be on a much more even playfield when you go against other players, as it is the power of the mech that matters when fighting others in such a vehicle – not your character's power. Mechs can be anything from giant, walking robots to gizmos that look more like a big chair with robotic legs that players can occupy. They all look very intimidating, though!
Everyone who gets Lost Eden will have a mech. It's not something you buy, its something you just "pull out of your backpack" whenever you want to. You will, however, need to research different types of mechs through another new feature of Lost Eden, the personal and global research system. There are several different types of vehicles to gain, like SAM batteries and stationary turrets or even tank-like vehicles.

The personal and global research system is another interesting addition Lost Eden which brings people together in a very interesting way. You simply open a menu where you get a list of different perks and abilities that can be unlocked. There are personal ones and there are global ones. You choose how much experience you want channeled into the research, so let's say you put it on fifty percent, then fifty percent of the experience you gain when you're out killing monsters and whatnot will go into the research pool instead of going towards your next level. You can choose to invest this in either personal research or global research.
Global research is for improving your mechs and vehicles weapons and armors that can be unlocked by people all over the servers working together by putting experience points into researching it, while personal research is limited to things that are only applicable to you.
Through this system you will be able to unlock things like the ability to use new weapons, new mechs and to even "invent" new equipment for you and others to use. You can also research upgrades for you mech, like increased armor or firepower. Each profession in Anarchy Online will get about seventy perks to research each.

Time to visit the aliens
In Anarchy Online's previous expansion, Alien Invasion, players were introduced to the horrible nature of the invading aliens that are – right now, as we speak – attacking the planet and ruining the cities that players have constructed themselves. A part of this gameplay was the ability for players to fight them off and even getting to board the landing spaceships to kick some alien butt. But the huge, gigantic Independence Day-ish alien motherships that hovered high up in the sky blocking the view to sun and moon, was never accessible. They would arrive and they would leave, but players could never reach them or attack them in any way. This is completely changed with Lost Eden.
This time around, players can actually travel up to these alien motherships and explore them fully by themselves and in groups. These locations are level dynamic, meaning the challenges onboard the alien mothership will be adjusted to your level. To get there, you will seek out a special NPC character that will give you a mission and send you up there via a shuttle craft. The insides of the alien mothership are quite unique, with hallways that looks like you're walking inside the veins of a living body. Its very organic looking and you really get the sense that you've entered a space ship belonging to someone who has found new ways of using technology besides building stuff of steel.
