Surrender before beginning the battle
This week Mythic Entertainment has surprised us all with a cold water hit when announcing the complete halting of the development process of which it had to be it's new MMORPG after Dark Age of Camelot: Imperator. It has been a great surprise since months ago the game it was counting on very good critics and during the past E3 Expo 2005 of Los Angeles, where the first images in movement of Imperator could be seen and, although still was in an early stage of development, let glimpse what could get to be a great game.

In Imperator the players encountered an alternative Earth, a future world of science fiction where the Roman Republic managed to survive until the post-modern era. Rome has become one of the greater world-wide powers, if not the only one, and leads the defense of the terrestrial civilizations against the enemies who look for the destruction of all the life in the planet; in concrete the Mayan civilization, that after exiliar itself to the space now has returned with high technology to dominate it everything.

The game system was focused specially in the combat against enemies controlled by the computer, reason why at first the PvP was not going to allow itself, as is the case of Dark Age of Camelot where the players of the three kingdoms could face among them. In Imperator, the player would start like a Roman soldier who must defend the Roman Republic being able to choose to work for different factions from Rome, some allies among them and other confronted. As far as the combat Mythic has said to be preparing a system that adapted more to a RPG than a FPS but allowing to a great freedom of decision and maneuverability to the players to decide how to figh. The point is that they do not try to transfer the system of Dark Age of Camelot to a futurist game.
