After Core Combat expansion and Battle Isles mod failures, Planetside needed major changes urgently. Sony Online Entertainemnt tried to add some new contents like urban PvP, but they didn't succeed.
But thanks to BFRs (Battle Frame Robotics) addon, included at Core Combat expansion, many bugs have been fixed so players can return to caves and dungeons. BFRs are powerfull combat vehicles. First you need to hack 10 times a subterranean headquarter so you'll be able to drive a BFR. This way developers hope that players will be again interested for subterranean world, which are empty since Core Combat failure.
So thanks to BFRs these caves are again full of people fighting each other in massive battles. But something more has changed. Before, Close Combat was $29.99 and now is $9.99. And BFRs are also lethal at open ground, and have become a major element at massive battles. BFRs are destruction machines wich regenerates fast.
BFRs are perfect for stormtroopers, leading the way for all the infantry and auxiliar troops. They can even sometimes replace tanks, which have become minor vehicles. Driving a BFR is not easy, having to steer vehicle and manage weapons. BFRs are really slow turning and really huge, so BFR pilots need a lot of practice.
